Mission Statement: To educate and involve students in the election process, create an informed electorate, and involve young people and their families in effective civic engagement.

Chanda Cook
Chairman of the Board

Chanda Cook is a Community Volunteer and the Voices in Voting Chairman of the Board of Directors.  Chanda has been actively involved with the Clark County School District throughout the years, working to ensure that all children get an equal opportunity to excel. Chanda was one of the founders of Voices In Voting/Kids Voting in Nevada, over 20 years ago.

Sharon Carter
Executive Director

Sharon Carter is a Community Volunteer and the Voices in Voting Executive Director.  Sharon is a retired educator, specializing in Social Studies and Political Science.  Sharon has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 15 years.

Joyce Woodhouse
Treasurer

Joyce Woodhouse is currently serving as Treasurer on the Voices in Voting Board of Directors and Chair of KidsVention.  Joyce is a retired educator, after serving as a teacher and administrator in CCSD for 40 years with 17 years as Director of the School-Community Partnership Program. Joyce currently serves in the Nevada State Senate, and was one of the founders of Voices In Voting/Kids Voting in Nevada over 20 years ago.

Gail Anderson
Board Member

Gail Anderson serves as Deputy Secretary of State for Southern Nevada.  Gail works with the Nevada Student Mock Election and uses her skills as a former educator to develop Nevada specific civics curriculum. She enjoys visiting local high schools to promote voter registration at schools competing for the Helen J. Stewart Award established by Secretary Cegavske to recognize 85% or more seniors registered or preregistered.  Gail serves as the staff liaison for the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Participatory Democracy.  She has served in several State administrative positions since 2002.

Kathleen Dickinson
Board Member

Kathleen Dickinson served as the Law Related Education Coordinator for the State Bar of Nevada 2009-2019.  Kathleen served as the President of the League of Women Voters Las Vegas Valley from 2006-2008. Kathleen is so a member of Secretary of State's Advisory Committee of Participatory Democracy.  Kathleen is currently the Executive Director for the Nevada Center for Civic Engagement.  Kathleen has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 10 years.  She is passionate about sharing civics with students of all ages

Dave Flatt
Board Member

Dave Platt serves as volunteer President for Lake Mead Council PTA in southern Nevada.  Dave is a retired Radio Shack Executive and has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 9 years.

Michael Flores
Board Member

Michael Flores serves as the chief of staff for the Nevada System of Higher Education.  In this position, Michael works closely with the chancellor to ensure outcomes for the planning and implementation of programs, events, and initiatives. He also assists with NSHE government affairs efforts and day-to-day operations of the System offices. Michael has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 6 years.

Roberta Lange
Board Member

Roberta was elected to the Nevada State Senate in 2020.  She represents District 7 in Clark County. Roberta has worked as an activist and elected leader in Democratic organizations and professional consultant in national, state, and local campaigns for over twenty-five years. Roberta was recognized by Campaign & Elections magazine as one of Nevada’s top 50 influencers and was recognized in the top 100 women to watch in Nevada.

Andrew Hunter
Board Member

Andrew Hunter is a Community Volunteer and the retired CEO of Silver State Schools Credit Union.  Andrew worked in the credit union movement throughout his career and has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 10 years.

Sue Longson
Secretary

Sue Longson is currently serving as Secretary on the Voices in Voting Board of Directors. Sue is a retired credit union CEO who currently serves as Advocacy Specialist at Boulder Dam Credit Union.  Sue has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 20 years.

Jaynie Malorni
Program Director

Jaynie Malorni currently serves as the lead educational and policy consultant over the work in social studies, financial literacy, civics, multicultural/cultural competency, world language, and distance learning courses, and digital learning, including the Nevada Digital Learning Collaborative for the Nevada Department of Education. Before NDE, Jaynie spent 13 years with Clark County School District, in multiple capacities and a teacher, coach and administrator.  Jaynie has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 6 years.

Dr. Constance Brooks
Board Member

Dr. Constance Brooks is a seasoned public affairs leader with expertise in both the public and private sectors. She serves as the Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs and Advancement for the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE). In this role, she leads vision and strategy development for the NSHE’s government and community relations, communications, and equity and diversity initiatives.

Roger West
Board Member

Roger West has been serving the Clark County School District for the past 18 years as a government teacher, dean, assistant principal, district administrator and is currently the principal of a middle school. Roger joined the Board of Directors of Voices in Voting in 2019.

Mike Campion
Board Member

Mike has been in the financial services industry since 1993. Originally from Houston, Texas, Mike moved to Las Vegas in 2012 and has a passion for serving the community by providing financial guidance and solutions to meet individual’s needs. Mike encourages financial literacy education for students and adults and meets regularly with local politicians to provide this support to school and community.

Shana Venenga
Board Member

Shana Venenga has been serving the Clark County School District for the past 18 years as an elementary teacher, high school counselor and now as the Assistant Director in the School-Community Partnership Program.  Shana has been serving on the Board of Directors for over 4 years.

Ray Wilson
Board Member

Ray Wilson is a senior banking executive and serves as the Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for Silver State Schools Credit Union, a $1 billion asset-size, full service financial institution, headquartered in Las Vegas, NV. He leads the company’s financial and accounting operations, with responsibility for risk management, and marketing. He also serves on the Board as Secretary/Treasurer of the Silver State Schools Credit Union.  Ray joined the Board of Voices in Voting in 2021.
